Holosun 507k is the little brother of the very popular HS507c open red dot sight. It shrinks the footprint to make it more versatile for mounting on a variety of pistols. Like all of Holosun’s optics the 507k X2 features a bunch of useful and innovative tech, such as “Shake Awake” to automatically turn the sight on when it senses movement, Multi Reticle System for choosing between the 2 MOA dot or 32 MOA ring, Multilayer Reflective Glass for maximum light transmission and glare reduction, Lock Mode to prevent accidental button presses and settings changes and a side access battery tray. All of this in a very light and rugged micro reflex sight that is also waterproof.
Holosun has done a great job of disrupting the market with their pistol red dot optics. Shooters are taking notice and purchasing optics they wouldn’t have considered in the past. This is due in large part to the fact that Holosun’s pistol optics are just as reliable and durable as any premium manufacturers’ offerings, but they come in at a lower price point.
The 507k holosun 507k x2 has a couple things that set it apart from other pistol red dot optics on the market. First, it is made out of aircraft grade 7075 T6 aluminum. This material is not only durable, but also very lightweight. The overall weight of the unit is just under an ounce. The housing is anodized to resist corrosion and the optical glass is treated with an anti-reflective coating to increase light transmission and reduce glare. This tiny pistol red dot has ten daylight settings and two night vision modes.
It also has a very intuitive user interface that is easy to use and understand. The buttons are clearly labeled and there is even a handy tutorial that will walk you through the basics. The battery life is good at 50,000 hours and it has two night vision modes to extend that range. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have a solar backup option.
One of the biggest reasons that the 507k is so popular is its versatility. It can be mounted on a variety of handguns, from small conceal carry guns to full sized duty pistols. The 507k also comes in both red and green dot versions so that shooters can choose what works best for them.
Another thing that sets the 507k apart is its excellent recoil resistance. This is particularly important when carrying a pistol with a small aperture as it can affect accuracy. The 507k also has a very low deck height which makes it easier to line up the optic with the pistol’s iron sights. For many shooters that is a major benefit as it allows them to keep their sights on target during recoil. The only drawback is that the reticle doesn’t cover the whole field of view, but shooters with good draw presentations can still pick up the dot fairly easily.
